Booking Info
Thanks for your interest in playing the Nomad World Pub. Please read through the following information before contacting us to perform.
Run Down & Expectations:
When inquiring about a show. Please be prepared by having a 3 or 4 band bill ready to book and what nights you are looking at specifically. Do not plan on having us fill out a night of music for you.
We will promote your show in our weekly ads we purchase in City Pages. We will also put it up on our Website, Twitter, and Facebook page.
Drop off or send concert posters and handbills to the Nomad no later than 3 weeks before your show. Email a digital file of the poster as well so that we can put it up online.
Promote your show around town and do not expect a walk up audience to drop in and check out your show. This is a collaborative effort to ensure your show is a success. A great turnout is a good way to be invited back to the Nomad to play in the future.
Nights of the Week:
Monday: Happy Hour 3-7, No Live Music. Usually we have R-Rated Trivia @ 9PM
Tuesday: Out of The Box Tuesdays with That Dude Trey and DJ B-Rock is a weekly dance party filled with pure unadulterated pandemonium. Everything from your favorite 90's jams to the latest hip hop bangers. 2-4-1's Midnight to bar close
Wednesday: Nomad World Pub Jazz Series curated by the venerable James Buckely. Nomad Jazz series is a weekly exhibition into the world of the local jazz excellence.
Thursday: Minneseries takes place every Thursday. We select one local band to play every Thursday during that month. Minneseries bands get to choose their supporting acts to open up for them each week. Over the years Minneseries artists have included: Dance Band, Romantica, Mel Gibson and the Pants, Solid Gold, Lucy Michelle and the Velvet Lapelles, Mouthful of Bees, Ice Palace, Abzorbr, Look Book, Teenage Moods, Reckless Ones, Bitch N Brown, Fuck Knights, G-Biz, and many many more.
“I’ll go ahead and call it the best weekly gig in town these days.”
Chris Riemenschneider, Star Tribune
Friday / Saturday: We expect you to draw 150+ on these nights. If you’re still working on this goal, plan on trying out some other clubs around town that have great music nights earlier in the week.
Sunday:Each and every Sunday, there’s a party at The Nomad World Pub. Cadillac Kolstad holds his weekly Sunday Night West Bank Dance Party, in it's fifth year. By pounding out classic American dance music on his piano Cadillac keeps the night upbeat and fresh with new and relevant material. Cadillac is backed by his rhythm section and often surprise guests of the highest caliber Minneapolis has to offer. Once a month the legendary Cornbread Harris “father” of the Minneapolis sound takes the stage for some Jazz and Blues. At 84 Cornbread can still play like he did on the first rock and roll record from Minneapolis in 1955, an act not to be missed. The two newest additions to the Sunday Night lineup are the liquor drinking outlaw country band The Union Suits, and the sincere songwriting and powerful vocal harmonies of brother fronted Calamity & The Owl open the night.
A few things to consider:
Booking local shows too close to each
other is bad for your draw. Try to keep 3 weeks between local shows.
That way you can concentrate your promotions for each event. This will
help you to have a strong draw each time you play. You'll make more
money, and we'll be happier. If you play shows too close together it
will disappoint both venues involved.
Shows in Minneapolis and St. Paul are both local shows. Don't play
in Minneapolis and then 4 days later play in St. Paul. Chicago, Madison,
Duluth, those are non local shows.
Don't expect the venue to draw. Don't ask whats the Friday Night Crowd like. Its like how you draw and Its like how the other bands draw.
Promotion is 100% expected on your end. If you are unable or
unwilling to promote your events, please don't expect to play here or
expect to get paid anywhere. We buy ads weekly in the papers, which are
expensive. We have a sweet website. We are active on Facebook, Twitter,
Myspace(not really so much), and email. We expect Social Media promotion
of you. We expect you to design a poster for your event, Print it, and
deliver it to the Nomad no less than 3 weeks out. If you have no graphic
design skills or don't know any artist we can have a poster designed
for you. It will cost you though and you won't be able to approve the
art.
We are a bar. A World Pub to be precise. 18+ shows and All-Ages
shows don't really do anything for our business financially and its a
huge liability for a place that makes most of its money selling booze.
We've done them in the past for our friends. We won't do them for
randos. Sorry. Not even on a "off night"
Be 21 or older if you want to play here. We know you are talented.
We need people who are old enough to get in to come. If you are under
age, most likely your friends are to. And, you aren't supposed to be in
the bar anyways. Exceptions can be made, but keep in mind we don't have
to let your 20 year old bass player in if you aren't straight up with
us.
The Nomad World Pub is decent sized venue, but we lack the layout to
comfortably store every one's gear back stage. We recommend trying to
share a drum kit and a bass amp with other bands for the night. This
helps expedite change overs and increase available dance floor area.
We look forward to working with you.
